The XXX Olympic Games will be held from the 27th July to the 12th August of the year 2012 in the city of London, England. This will be the first time that a city has been the official host city on 3 occasions, having done so previously in the year 1908 and then in the year 1948.
The presentation to the public of the Olympic torch took place on the 8th June of the year 2011. Unlike anterior occasions, the torch will not have an international trajectory but will be transferred directly from Greece to the United Kingdom. The Olympic fire lighting ceremony took place on the 10th May and on the 18th May the flame arrived in the United Kingdom where the football player David Beckham lit the torch from a cauldron. The 19th May was the first day of a seventy day relay starting in Cornwall, England, until the opening ceremony which will take place on the 27th July.

The venues of the Games will be distributed in the Olympic Park, a variety of different places within the city of London — which will also house 2 non-competition venues—; as well as others outside of the city of London. The Olympic Park will be the main venue of the Games. It was built in a former industrial zone and has extensive Green areas with four thousand trees planted there and more than 300 thousand wetland plants and a garden with 120 thousand plants from 250 species coming from all parts of the world, which will create a permanent habitat for a variety of birdlife. In this area they will locate the Olympic village and nine sports installations, one of which will be used for the Paralympics Games. In the year 2013 it will be renamed as the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.

The village square will be the main social centre with a variety of services for the residents, including banks, shops, and beauty salons amongst others. During their stay the athletes will enjoy a 24 hour restaurant which will provide approximately 60 thousand meals a day. The village will be one of the legacies of these games, as it will be converted into a private residential area to be known as East Village.
