Esporles is situated in the Sierra de Tramontana, it is the enclave and natural accident of most importance, geographically speaking, in Mallorca. The locality is divided into two parts: theVilavella and theVilanova. Its two parts owe their name to the moment that they were placed on a map, owing to its economy which was traditionally based on agriculture and livestock, which can be seen on the farm to be visited called Sa Granja de Esporles. The textile industry was also important of which there are the remains of its factories and buildings, at present, empty. The majority of them are being or have been transformed into housing.
